2006 Donald J. Johnston Award: Results in $10,000 Gift to Youth in Motion
Toronto, May 23, 2006 — Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) President Don Johnston selects Youth in Motion, an organization dedicated to preparing Canada's youth for the job market, as beneficiary of the $10,000 gift associated with the "Donald J. Johnston Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession of Financial Planning in Canada." FPSC's Board of Directors inaugurated the annual Donald J. Johnston Award and announced Johnston as its first honouree at FPSC's 10th Anniversary event in January.
Johnston's visionary leadership, imagination and dedication in forwarding the development and recognition of the profession of financial planning through Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP™) certification in Canada inspired the creation of the annual award. The award includes a monetary contribution by FPSC to the non-profit organization of the honouree's choice.Johnston presents the gift today to Youth in Motion co-founder, president and CEO, Akela Peoples at FPSC offices.
